Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. The sound of the dry grasses under her large paws was the only sound heard from the large cat. Something about being alone in the savanna made her feel at ease. Though her sister was gone, though she was in a land she did not know. She followed her path. Never straying. With her eyes glued ahead to her destination: water. She was thirsty from her travels and hadn't been able to locate water in the new land. As she ventured closer to the water source, the sounds of prey reached her. All around her there was the scent of other animals. Birds, Rodents, Zebras, Buffalo, and more. Despite her desire to chase down the closest animal she kept to the water. As the various prey animals caught her scent they would look at her, some running. She could tell everything was ready to run at a moments notice, in case this roaming lion decided on having a meal. She kept her head down low as the water came within a few steps. Crouching down, she drank from the water. It was cool and refreshing. She stayed in the position for several moments, drinking and then breathing. With a sigh she rose, her figure creating a shadow from the sun that seemed to look larger than her. Her brown eyes peered back to the path she had come from. No, not that way. Her head turned to another path, one which led to a tree. Yes, that way. Imani slowly began to move, her paws once again beginning to crunch the earth below her. Within a few minutes Imani had reached the tree. With a soft thud her body met the dirt. She gave a few pants to help cool down from the heat before resting her head on her paws. @sekekama || Notes: I hope this is fine.

Sekekama was, in truth, deathly bored. He had found a lioness amid the trees, eaten the stolen carcass of a hyena, and injured the same hyena for spiting him. At the moment he had accomplished a satisfactory amount and had little left to do as the sun seemed to reach its peak.
Scorching heat blared down on the golden-hued feline as he stalked through the waving grasses of the land. He could scent animals nearby, some seen and others invisible to his eye. None payed much heed to his lonely approach. They were all here for a shared purpose and wouldn't be quarreling yet. Not until they reached the water. Not until they sated their thirst.
Soon the murky coloring of water could be seen on the horizon. Sekekama felt his gait quicken of it's own accord as the water drew nearer. But as he reached the shore, something drove his attention entirely from the water standing just feet away. Someone had gotten here before him. Lifting his massive cranium upwards, Sekekama drew in a shuddering breath, audits pricked with what could be called excitement. A lioness had been here not long before he and she appeared to be alone, judging from her scent.
Curious and filled with the excitement of finding one of his own, the brute turned from the water he had sought to follow her scent. It wasn't long before he caught sight of the lioness lounging in the shade of a tree. All it took was a quick look around to make sure she was alone before Sek set off towards her. His tail flicked casually at the air and he strode with confidence as if the terrain he walked was his alone. "You seem to have the right idea, my dear. The sun can be brutal some days.. Do you mind if I join you?" His vocals were calm and held no threat. Perhaps he was simply, as he had stated, looking for a place away from the sun or curious about a stranger.
But that was hardly ever the case with Sekekama.

Her eyes and senses began to lull in the shade during the hot day. all she did was to flick away pesky flies trying to land on her fur. Imani felt her eyelids becoming heavier, but she couldn't fall asleep; on the edge of the possibility of resting. She forced her eyes open again, only to see the grasses swaying in the faint breeze that graced the hot day. However, her clam did not last long. Her nose inhaled the scents around her and her mind was jolted awake. Another lion. Imani quickly raised her head to see the lion heading towards her. He had a confident walk as he strolled to her, as if this was his land. Imani gave a short scoff under her breath as came up to her, only a few lengths away. She barely gave any attention to his words, focusing on any behavior he might be showing through his body movements. Her brown eyes narrowed at the lion, questioning his intentions as he talked about the sun and asking to join. "By the way to turned heel from the water to come over here, I figure you're joining me despite my answer." Her words carried hostility compared to the male's words which seemed to have none. Imani rose to a sitting position, her height still under that of the male's. "What brings you to this waterhole?" Her question lacked hostility like her previous comment, but she continued to question motives the male may have had. Unlike others, Imani wasn't as easily outsmarted. @sekekama

The golden feline tilted his head in a curious manner, his tail twitching thoughtfully. Now this could get fun. Zola had been submissive and feared him, which was fun in its own right. But this lioness had something else entirely it appeared. She had fire in her eyes that threatened to overwhelm his own passionate temper. Needless to say, Sekekama was deeply intrigued by the mysterious fae.
"By the way to turned heel from the water to come over here, I figure you're joining me despite my answer." A slow smile spread over the brute's scarred muzzle as he observed her patiently. "How intuitive of you," he mused taking a pace forward so he could sit in the shade. The feline was careful to remain outside of her range if she decided to attack, but close enough to make his presence known.
Her next words didn't come as a surprise, but the massive feline took his time in answering. Already he found himself enjoying what was sure to be an eventful visit. Why not try to infuriate her a little? He gave her a casual shrug in return, sweeping his tongue across his muzzle. "I've wandered these lands for a long time, though I don't have the pleasure of calling them home, just yet. The real question is what are you doing here, my dear?" Without warning, his personality appeared to do a 360 turn, as was typical of the brute. A sinister light crept into his eyes as he leaned towards her. "Are you lost? Perhaps I could help you..."

Her ears turned and pinned to the back of her head as he answered her. Something about his speech made her irritated. But, Imani knew she didn't stand a chance against a full grown male, unless a miracle came along for her. She watched him as the male took his time to find a place to sit, just outside of her strike zone, a smart male for once. Her head raised higher to try and meet his eye level and to make her appear larger than she truly was. She gave off a short scoff as he spoke about traveling the land for a long time, but not having a home. He was a loner, just like her, nothing more. Then she gave an irritated look as he began to ask what she was doing here. "The same as you I suppose," her sentence was stopped short by his personality turn. His words almost seemed like an insult to her, asking for her to smack him. "As I was saying, I am not lost. Perhaps you are the one lost. Seems like it with the way you followed the scent of just a random lioness by a waterhole..." Her eyes narrowed with her comment towards him, and a smirk crossed her face. "Besides, how could you possibly help me? You said it yourself, you're still searching for your home. I think you're the one needing help, sir." Her face hardened and she flicked her tail, wrapping it around her back paws. "I'm not some helpless lioness."@sekekama || Hope you can put up with Imani's sass.

Her initial irritation didn't go unnoticed by Sekekama. His audit gave a flick as an amused smirk spread across his striking features. She talked big but he knew, if it came down to it, he could best her in a fight. Oh, he was sure she could injury him, that was certain, but he would win. And he knew it. The brute's tail swished along the ground like that of an overgrown house cat as he regarded the fae. She seemed quite content to hate him and he made no speech in his defense to change her opinion. After all, he only needed a few lionesses to start a pride and she wouldn't be his top pick. A lone lioness needed a protector more than he needed them, even if they did hate him. Perhaps one day she would realize this, but perhaps not. She did seem quite stubborn after all.
Sekekama was so set in his musings he hardly registered her vocals stabbing towards him. With a blink, the golden feline drew himself back to the present to take in what had been said. "As I was saying, I am not lost. Perhaps you are the one lost. Seems like it with the way you followed the scent of just a random lioness by a waterhole..." At that, he couldn't help but give a little scuff. "I thought you were smarter than that, darling. Surely you have been followed by a strange male like me before. After all, there are some desperate enough out there that might consider starting a pride with you. I was merely curious what a loner like yourself was doing so deep into unfamiliar territory," Sekekama took care to make sure the fae could hear the taunting of his words, see the sly smile on his lips, catch the laugh rumbling in his chest. She was of little matter to him and he wanted to make sure that was clear.
"Besides, how could you possibly help me? You said it yourself, you're still searching for your home. I think you're the one needing help, sir. I'm not some helpless lioness." A laugh turned to a threatening growl, rumbling threateningly in his throat like an approaching storm. Not some helpless lioness, huh? Well perhaps it was true, to a certain extent, but she could defiantly be considered helpless by him. Sekekama was used to throwing his weight around and hardly ever came across another being who disagreed and argued with him as she did. It was infuriating, to say the least. The lioness almost behaved like the hyena he had come across not to along ago. She too had taunted him and look where it had gotten her.
"I'd watch your words more carefully, little lion. I would hate for you to get hurt." Sekekama took a few steps in her direction threateningly, make sure to keep an eye on her paws in case she decided to attack. He wouldn't do anything, he was more talk than he was anything else. But, if it came down to it, he wouldn't be opposed to putting her in her place.

She watched him carefully. His whole attitude had changed in a matter of moments. From some flirty no good lone male to a male now with threatening undertones. It almost excited Imani, almost. She could tell he was sizing her up, no doubt knowing the very same truth she knew, Imani would lose a fight within a few moments; she was no match for this male. She gave a look of distaste when the male gave a retort of her early remark on his behavior. Imani would give him the credit, he kept up with her. At least in speech. Her brows raised as he commented about his underlying reasons to greet her and start the current conversation. After he spoke, she couldn't help but give off a laugh. "Oh, yes. A pride. What a wondrous idea," she said with distasteful amounts of sarcasm. "but, that would require both parties having an interest. I do not." Her last words were much more bitter than all her previous comments, her memory still fresh of her younger years, leaving her old pride after an eventful time. A moment of concern graced Imani's face before quickly hardening to the smirk she once had to hide any forms of emotion from the overlooking male. Her mind raced back to the present as a laugh became a growl from the male. Her ear once again perked up. It seemed as though her last comment truly irritated the male. Imani watched as he gave a short threat and made his way closer to her, the distance between the two became short. Her body tensed, her paws ready to strike at him, though she could do little damage. If things went south her best bet would be a quick hit then pray she had more endurance than this male. This is no good she thought. After a few moments, a short smile crept upon her face. Or rather, an idea. At least something to give her a better bet at getting away unharmed. Imani stood, her height still below the male. As she spoke, her voice was softer and suggestive, "It would be a shame for me to get hurt, wouldn't it? I mean, let's think about this logically, you're a lone male, you want a pride? Of course you do. But, you need females... and my guess, I'm one of the few you've run into, aren't I?" As she spoke, her voice became softer than it start, and she began to walk around the male. "Now, lone females are much easier to form a pride with than taking a pride, in which you'd need to find one, AND defeat the reigning king, but then you have to deal with the grouchy lionesses because cubs and their king and blah, blah, blah." Once again, she faced the male, her face rather close to his, "I don't think you'd want to hurt me either, because then that's one less lioness for you, see where I'm going with this?" She gave him a short smile and locked eyes with him and her tone became serious, "Cross me, and I swear I'll make sure you have one hell of a time keeping your precious pride together."Then, within a moment, she became a cheerful and suggestive lioness, "Do you really wanna hurt me?"@sekekama

The lioness seemed to be just as apt at changing from one personality trait to the next. Sekekama found himself almost stunned by her sudden change from hostile to flirtatious, almost the complete opposite of his own. The thought almost brought a startled laugh to his lips before he could suppress the sound. She was baffling to him, but it made her all the more interesting. The brute stood silent and still as the fae circled him, his tail giving an occasional flick. As she made her way around him, his golden orbs followed her progress. In a matter of seconds she seemed to have changed her tune completely.
"I thought you were against the idea of prides?" Sekekama tried to force his words to sound threatening but couldn't quite find the conviction. He was far to distracted by her words to feel the fury that had been burning in him just moments before. Did she mean the words dripping with flirtatious lilts or was she simply trying to disarm him? While he may be the superior in a fight, this lioness was defiantly the more skilled at this game.
Sekekama finally broke his statue-like stance, giving his mane a rough shake as he turned to look at the prowling figure. He leaned forward his warm breath filtering through the already scorching heat surrounding them. "Let's say that I haven't seen many other lionesses. Why would I not hurt you because of it? You hardly seem to be a...team player. It's not like you would be much use in a pride if you couldn't get along with everyone else, now would it?"
The male peered down into her own eyes, his gaze thoughtful, if not a little threatening. Baring his teeth he took another stride forward to close what small distance remained between them. He tried to keep himself from showing any glimmer of excitement as her statements lingered in his audits. "I'm not sure you're being entirely truthful.. Tell me, why shouldn't I hurt you?" His tone was light but there was a spark of desire lighting in his optics.

A smile graced her as the male started playing along with her game, though it seemed clear to her that she had the upper hand in such a situation. While the brute was driven by all his anger and pride, Imani used her brain. Imani contined to stay silent as the male started to speak, he joined her game. He was playing along. Maybe he knew her play, maybe she had actually disarmed him for a few moments. It was exciting, the game. Trading whits with an unknown lion, she didn't even know his name... and he didn't know hers. She focused back to him as he mentioned how she said she didn't desire a pride. "You're correct to catch my contradiction. But, things can change. Perhaps down the road I will want to join a pride. Perhaps." Her words lingered on 'perhaps,' she couldn't tell in her own mind if she would want to join a pride, much less a pride run by a male who couldn't keep his temper with a sassy female. He'd make a pride and have it taken away within a week because of his temper, he was full of himself. It was almost humorous to Imani. Her eyes widened slightly as he spoke about her not being able to work in a pride. "I'm very aware of how a pride works. I was in one. I can easily function in a pride." She growled lowly, suddenly feeling a hot rage growing inside her, "You, sir, don't do much for prides. Sure, you protect and give us cubs; but, who feeds you? Who raises your annoying cubs? Who follows your idiotic temper that can be compared to a juvenile!" Her eyes glowed with heat as she spat at the male, how dare he say she couldn't be in a pride. Her ears went back against her head as he closed the distance between them, a growl coming from him as well. She was silent when he asked his question. Not a single word came from her mouth, she just stared at him. She let out a rushed sigh as she kept eye contact with him before speaking, "because you find me interesting. Otherwise, why would I still be standing?" @sekekama

Sekekama didn't acknowledge her speech right away, his orbs flicking over her figure. A look of faint amusement played along his features as he again tilted his head. Would she ever cease to amaze him with her boldness? "You, sir, don't do much for prides. Sure, you protect and give us cubs; but, who feeds you? Who raises your annoying cubs? Who follows your idiotic temper that can be compared to a juvenile!" A chuckle left him as he stared her down. She had so much fire in her, it was amusing to see her getting all worked up over his 'temper'. Hadn't she just revealed one of her own? Everyone had something of a beast inside them and she was no different than he in that respect. Sekekama found himself caught in what could almost be called admiration for the fae. But still, how could he let her get away with a remark such as that without some kind of punishment. Surely she would tell others and whatever fearsome reputation he had acquired would have vanished.
Almost regretfully he let his growl bubble into a snarl of fury. "I do not hunt because I'm too busy making sure you lionesses haven't let enemies slipped unchecked into the lands, coming for your cubs. It's almost as if you want them to be killed. If not for someone like me, lions would have vanished from the savanna long ago due to your stupidity and laziness." As he spoke, what had once been a feigned fury became real, but it wasn't directed at her. Bitter images from his past swirled into being before his eyes as he spoke. His father had left him and his siblings to fend for themselves. Sure he and his brother had escaped but that didn't mean his sisters or aunts had. And his mother most certainly didn't.
His gaze came sharply back into focus on the young lioness before him. He didn't know what her story was, why she hated prides but he found he didn't quite care to know. Everyone had a story and if she though she was alone in something like that than she was mistaken. Sekekama was done letting her talk circles around him.
With the snarl still caught in his throat he left forward, aiming to topple her over. But his anger had begun to subside. The brute really had no intention to harm her, maybe just scare her a little to put her in her place. In truth, he was frustrated by her games, almost unable to keep up with her. It was maddening but he had respect for her tricks. Sekekama ignored her final statement, a little smirk playing on his lips as he halted his attack. "Well than how's this, darling? But you are right, I do find you interesting.. I would hold onto that, if I were you."

Her feelings continued to bubble inside her, demanding to be unleashed. Why had they decided to emerge now? Why not once she was done with this male, this idiotic male. Why? She growled with frustration at herself and her own foolish emotions, Imani took a breath of air and created a systematic way of breathing, trying to calm down. Try to calm down and beat this male. She carefully watched the male, surely since he'd seen her temper there would be something awaiting the lioness. Her only prayer was that she could run faster. As the male growled she took a few steps back, trying to put distance between the two. Any amount of distance between them would do, she just needed enough to avoid a hit. She took one, maybe two steps back, trying to make her movements invisible to the male. If he saw her stepping back it would be seen as a sign of fear. Maybe fear compelled her, after all, she couldn't afford an injury being on her own; if she became injured she would surely die out here, and she would die alone. Her jaw visibly clenched as her talked as if the lionesses needed types like him. "You think of yourself as a 'savior'? You are no such thing... We keep our cubs safe before taking them back to the pride. We protect just as you do. Lions would still be here with or without you." Her voice was calmer this time, she feared if her fury overcame her she would be forced to fight. Despite her anger, she ignored his comment about stupidity. It didn't matter. Imani knew she could outsmart him, she just had to play her cards right; and she had to play her cards perfectly. Her breaths were heavier by now, no longer a calm rhythm but a hope for some fresh air. Her mind had zoned to focus back on her breathing, trying to regulate it once again. When she focused back to reality, the male was suddenly closer, and suddenly she felt his weight against her. His weight was much more than her's, and he easily toppled her over. Without being able to prepare, her balance was already off. Her side hit the earth with a soft thud, to which she blinked and looked at him, registering what had happened. Quickly, she scrambled back to her paw, shaking her pelt of some dirt. She gave a short growl again, teeth barely showing to the male, "why would I hold onto something from a lion whose name I don't even know? Some king you'd make, half your lionesses probably wouldn't know your name." With her last insult, she looked directly into his eyes, while making her posture ready for another move towards her. @sekekama

As quickly as his temper had appeared it vanished, curling back up inside him like a beast recoiling for a rest. Sekekama allowed himself a small smile, backing away from the lioness as she hurled insults his way. They were something that no longer bothered him, he knew know that he had gotten under her skin. "You think of yourself as a 'savior'? You are no such thing... We keep our cubs safe before taking them back to the pride. We protect just as you do. Lions would still be here with or without you." Sekekama simply shrugged dragging his golden optics away to look out over the lake. "I wouldn't say 'savior' as you put it. But where are you going to get without a male? It isn't like you could survive on your own like this forever, though you seem to be doing an admirable job. Eventually you will either have to beg your way into an existing pride or start your own with another male." No malice or threat existed in his tone as he spoke, still watching the lake as he spoke. He had been talking with her for longer than he had thought and the sun was already sinking towards that horizon casting a beautiful light over the shimmering waters.
After a moment's pause he turned back to look at her, sitting heavily on the ground. He was still angry at her for insulting him, but no longer did he wish to fight. He had proven his power when he had knocked her to the ground. Someone has spirited as she didn't deserve his wrath beyond a little show of strength. It would be a shame to see her fire burn down to nothing. "why would I hold onto something from a lion whose name I don't even know? Some king you'd make, half your lionesses probably wouldn't know your name." Her next furious comment didn't come as a surprise to the brute. He let out a huff of amusement, optics darting over her tensed frame. "Well we should fix that, shouldn't we? My name is Sekekama. What is yours, if I may ask?"

She looked at him with many emotions. Almost everything about him seemed to irritate her, so why had she even stuck around? Her day was wasted. She looked away from him for a moment to see the sky, it was getting darker. She'd wasted her breaths talking to him for her whole day. She had ground to cover, and she was starving. She'd barely hunted on her journey, mostly stealing from others to save time. Imani cursed herself silently for letting time slip away from her. Imani looked back at him as he spoke a last few insults, though they could barely be called such. Her eyes rolled as he said she would one day join a pride, whether or not she wanted to. "That day will not be today. That day will not be tomorrow. That day will be after I have found my home." She spoke with underlying determination; she would find a home of her own without the help of others, only herself. "And by the way, I do not beg." She shook her coat once more, expelling any lasting remnants of dirt. She must've looked like a cub after that fall. Only a fool wouldn't have seen that coming. She looked back to him as he spoke again, she could tell he no longer had the fire that was ignited earlier, a shame really. Her ears moved to his voice once more as he spoke his name. Sekekama. Interesting. Her head turned back to him as he asked for hers. She kept quiet, letting a long time pass between the two lions. The sounds of the other animals around them began to fill the silence as she continued to pause she speech. "Imani. My name is Imani." Her words were firm, confident in saying her own name. She wanted him to remember it, whenever a lioness caused him trouble, she wanted her name to float in his head, taunting him. "I'd make sure you remember that."@sekekama
